Indian Harnaaz Sandhu on Sunday selected around 80 nominees for the 70th Miss Universe pageant as part of the beauty pageant influenced by politics and contagion.

Andrea Meza of Mexico, who previously ran Miss Universe, crowned her successor and Bollywood actress in the Israeli resort of Eilat on the Red Sea. The race took place in the middle of the night at 5 a.m. local time (10 p.m. EST), in time for prime time in the United States.

The competition included presentations of casual wear, formal wear and swimwear, as well as interview questions to test participants in public speaking.
However, in recent weeks he has been treated for other reasons.

The Palestinian-led anti-Palestinian movement called on participants across the race to oppose Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. Finally, only Malaysia, an Islamic state with links to Palestine, did not send a representative due to the international COVID-19 situation. The South African government, which is a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, has withdrawn its support for the Palestinian cause.

In an interview last month, Meza asked contestants to quit beauty pageant politics. “When you were there you forgot about politics and religion,” he told The Associated Press at the time.

Israel’s tourism director Sara Salansky said the country was chosen as the venue for the event earlier this year thanks to Israel’s successful efforts against the coronavirus. The race has also been tense in recent days with the arrival of the Omicron variant, which Israel forced to close its borders to tourists last month.
