Husband who believed ‘good things happen in America’ was shot dead by American. Wife asks ‘Do we belong here?’

Amidst the animosity and strange atmosphere which envelopes the US at this juncture when a series of developments have taken place, including the hypes US Presidential elections which Trump the main man of the States. Since then, States has been in news for one thing or another, be it Immigration ban or H-1B Visa. Here is a another story:

At a bar in Olathe city, an Indian engineer,  Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead amidst the commotion by a Navy veteran. Mrs. Kuchibhotla recently came up with her verdict, when she spoke out of news conference organized by GPS-maker Garmin where Srinivas used to work.

Sunanya Dumala stated that incoming news of US engendering new grounds of biases on daily basis is making minorities perturbed and freaky. She asked, “Do we belong here”.

She also stated her curiosity in nexus with the future of the US government actions. She said that she now wonders what will the US government do to stop hate crimes against minorities.

Dumala informed the audience that her husband once told her “good things happen in America”, the statement which she now doubts.

Consul General of India in Houston Anupam Ray has taken stock of the current situation. She has aided the Kuchibhotla family and also the community in Olathe area of Kansas. The Counsel has provided full support to the Srinivas family.

Consul Joshi had a conversation with the perturbed Indian community in Olathe, whose mental space has been distorted owing to the isolated and stringent atmosphere which has enveloped the States.

On Wednesday night, Consul also met Alok Madasani who underwent injuries in the shooting.

However, Madasani has recovered and hence has been discharged from the hospital.

“I am shocked at the shooting incident in Kansas in which Srinivas Kuchibhotla has been killed. My heartfelt condolences to bereaved family,” she said in a tweet yesterday.

Nonetheless, she refrained from making any further comments on developments in this regard.
