India Celebrates the Third International Yoga Day -2017 Today

The term ‘yoga’ refers to a set of spiritual practices that train our body and mind. Yoga ensures a sound mind and body, a system that is based on stability, concentration, good health, self transformation and liberation.

Yoga has always been an integral part of the Indian culture. To promote yoga worldwide, India requested the United Nations to declare June 21 as the international day of yoga in the world.

Millions of people are doing yoga all around the world. At the same time, there are many countless others who would like to start. Many different countries and cultures are now connecting to India through yoga.

This Wednesday, the Indians are celebrating the third international yoga day. On this occasion PM Narendra Modi has urged everyone to make yoga a persistent part of their lives.

The honorable prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi along with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and governor Ram Naik attended a state-level event held in the morning. The dignitaries addressed the congregation assembled at RAMABAI AMBEDHKAR MAIDAN in Lucknow. Despite heavy rains, around 50,000 people gathered at the venue, making it a successful event, so far.

Besides Lucknow, the celebration took place in other states of India, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Vishakhapatnam, Uttarakhand, Kolkata, Gujarat, Guwahati, Jammu, etc. The citizens, brimming with excitement and energy, gathered in parks and stadiums to participate in events.

Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje along with her cabinet ministers, colleagues and senior officials of state, took part in an event held at SMS Stadium Jaipur, where she addressed thousands of people. The CM informed them about the benefits of the yoga and how essential it is for spiritual healing. Special arrangements were made for people at the stadium. The pleasant weather made this event worthwhile.

The day was also observed in other districts of Rajasthan. Even the prisoners at the Jaipur central jail performed various yoga “asanas”.

Yoga is a healthy practice for everybody who performs it the right way.  It is universally accepted art of spiritual healing, which became a crucial factor in binding the world, as it is a part of everyone’s lifestyle.
