As soon as Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured a victory in the elections, he addressed the Indo-Pak relations in his speech and talked about strengthening ties between the two nations. Apparently, India has also decided to take a step forward and mend the ties by intensifying contacts with PTI members.
If sources are to be believed, the Indian mission is to keep in touch with the senior PTI leaders who are an integral part of the newly formed government. While India understands that its mention in PTI’s campaign was more of an outcome of Pakistan politics than being an antipathy, Pakistan too has appreciated the fact that India has been equidistant from all parties.
Reportedly, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani made a congratulatory call to Imran Khan on Sunday and the possibility of PM Mod making a call to Pakistan have not been ruled out completely by the officials.
It’s too soon to predict whether the leaders of the two nations get to bury the hatchet but it seems like a good start for now. Nonetheless, many Indian celebrities chose to congratulate Imran Khan for winning the elections and hoped for a peaceful future for the two countries.
Here are some of the heartfelt tweets by Indian celebrities:
Well spoken Imran Khan. I have been saying whatever you said on all channels past two days regarding India-Pakistan! I hope you succeed in making your “Mulk” have good relations with my “Mulk” pic.twitter.com/YCe741vW22

His victory speech at 92 cricket World Cup made my father predict- “yeh banda pakka ek din Pakistan ka PM banega.” And it happened today. Congrats @ImranKhanPTI sir. Have always been a fan. Now you have the biggest responsibility of bringing peace and harmony in the subcontinent.
