India-Malaysia Business Deals Flourishing With Rs. 2.45 lakh Crore Investment

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak recently visited India and savoured on the sober Indian food. But, that was not the only excitement as he also signed the investment deal with Indian firms worth Rs. 2.45 lakh crore.

He addressed the Indian business leaders and signed the business treaty. Najib mentioned, “”I want to make a confession to all of you that I am beginning to consider idli as my favourite breakfast item and you can see how much of India has crept into our Malaysian way of life.”

His admiration for Indian roots and people is not new and pretty much obvious as at the time of elections as well, he courted the Indian population. The Malaysian Prime Minister highlighted that Malaysia is the home of huge Indian migrants outside India. According to him, Malaysia probably has the largest Indian population in it. He also added, “Over 7% of our population are of Indian origin. Indian Malaysians play a key role in building Malaysia”.

Also, the Indians living in Malaysia are Tamilians and PM Najib also met Tamil celebrity superstar previous week. He mentioned, “I met famous actor Rajinikanth and shared a selfie with him and I am beginning to like Tamil movies in addition to Bollywood”.

In Bollywood, Najib Razak and his wife’s favourite actor is Shah Rukh Khan.

His business preference is India and though Malaysia had pretty much closeness with China, this seems more of astonishment. A mingled statement from both the sides says, “respecting freedom of navigation and over flight, and unimpeded lawful commerce, based on the principles of international law, as reflected notably in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982. They urged all parties to resolve disputes through peaceful means without resorting to threat or use of force and exercise self-restraint in the conduct of activities, and avoid unilateral actions that raise tensions, and they emphasised that all parties should show utmost respect to the UNCLOS 1982, which establishes the international legal order of the seas and oceans.”

With Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh being the focus areas, Najib has 150 consolidated business delegacies. On one hand where Andhra Pradesh is letting Malaysia to make a 250 acre “fourth generation technology park” in Amravati, Rajasthan is relying on them for road projects costing $1.2 billion.

Till now, Malaysia has made investments worth $7 billion in India via Mauritius.
