India has reaped benefits from Israel’s cooperation since 2006. Know more

The ever-strengthening ties between India and Israel have been effectively leveraged by the desert state to reap multiple benefits from a galaxy of resources combined due to the collaboration of India and Israel.

However, surprising is the fact that before Narendra Modi had even visited Israel, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje spotted the host of opportunities which Israel offers to the accomplishment of Rajasthan’s development.

CM Raje’s Israel visit — A fillip to Rajasthan’s agriculture

CM Raje visited Israel with an objective of boosting agricultural techniques used by the farmers of Rajasthan. If you are thinking she visited Israel in the last few years, then you will be surprised to know that she observed the opportunity quite early in time. CM Raje visited Israel in 2006 to fulfill her desire of facilitating production of Olives and dates, which was a far cry back then.

Thanks to her vigorous enthusiasm and dedication, CM Raje ushered in a wave of breakthrough agricultural transformations in the desert state. The technique of effective drip irrigation was introduced by CM Raje in Rajasthan, which became one of the many states to have adopted this form of irrigation.

After coming back from Israel, CM Raje associated with the Rajasthan Olive Cultivation Limited (ROCL), a pilot plantation of Olives. The project will be backed by the continuous aid of Israel.

Unprecedented Achievements followed

Prabhulal Saini, Rajasthan Agriculture Minister said, “We share a robust bilateral cooperation with Israel along with experiencing similar agro-climate conditions. We can pick techniques from Israel in various fields like dairy sector, water recycling, horticulture, and farming. We are now establishing strongholds in animal husbandry and water management.”

With Israel’s help, Rajasthan has been able to commence three Centres of Excellence at Kota, Bassi (Jaipur) and Jaisalmer. “These centres of Excellence help in boosting production of citrus, pomegranate, olive and date palms,” the minister added.

Other dividends reaped from India-Israel relations

  • Over 1000 forward looking farmers have been trained under the impeccable guidance of Israeli experts. Further, the state plans to provide more farmers with this opportunity
  • Animal Husbandry is another major sector which has been bolstered through the increasing cooperation between India and Israel. This will ensure adoption of appropriate techniques for adoption and conservation of cows (traditional breeds) in the state.
