India today launched IRNSS-1G at 12:50pm and with this the country has its seventh and the last final satellite in place to finally launch its own navigational system. The navigational system is to be launched on the lines of the US’s GSP system.

This is the third satellite of the constellation of seven satellites which has been launched this year.. Two other satellites were sent to orbit earlier in 2016. Before this there were 6 satellites which were launched by ISRO named IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E and 1F. These satellites were launched with a motive of providing accurate mapping information.

With the launch of this satellite India has become independent and now does not need assistance or any help from an external platform for the regional navigational system. Let us tell you that every single satellite of this constellation of seven satellites costs nearly 150 crore Rs and therefore the cost of the entire project went around approximately 910 crore Rs.

Hopefully ISRO will make this IRNSS system work by July and is continuously working towards convincing the Global Information System Technology developers, mobile device manufacturers and device manufactures to move on to the network once it’s ready to operate.
