India will now car to refrigerator needs through a new plant set up by Panasonic

The Japanese electronics giant Panasonic has a wide multinational market to serve. To make it easier for refrigerator manufacturing for countries like Africa, Middle East and India, the company is planning to start up a plant in India itself. Further motives behind this plant would be to make the supply section face less difficulties and burden.

It was during the India Gadget Expo when Manish Sharma, the Managing Director of Panasonic for India and South Asia, had said that “refrigerators were the only consumer durable product where the supply was “slightly less than the demand.”

Then regarding this new decision he went forward and stated that, “The feasibility is being studied. A decision on the location, investment and the capacity were yet to be finalized. A refrigerator unit with a capacity of 6-10 lakh units would entail an investment in the range of Rs.200-300 crore, he replied to a query.

Sharma also wanted everyone to know that “The demand for other electronic goods, barring cell phones, continued to be low.” So in order to cater the important needs of the customers through their refrigerator usage, Panasonic seems all up to set up a new plant in India. As previously, this electronic brand had to import supply needs of India from other plants South East Asia like Thailand. But now through this new plant, India can be the emergent source of divisions of Middle East and Africa.
