Indian Air Force set to flaunt its firepower in Iron Fist 2016

Keeping in mind the security situations in and around the country, India has been displaying its firepower strengths and skill power from time to time. The Indian Air Force is once again set to show the world its tactical skills through a demonstration scheduled on 18th March 2016 at the famous Thar Desert in Pokhran Rajasthan. The Fire Power Demonstration (FPD) has been named Exercise Iron Fist 2016.

BS Dhanoa, Air Marshal and Vice Chief of the Air Staff said, “The massive exercise in the Thar Desert would involve the participation of 181 aircraft from multiple bases across the country. All the frontline fighters in IAF’s inventory including the Su-30 MKI will partiiptae in the exercise.”

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Defence Minister Manohar Parikar and Chief of IAF Air Marshal Arup Raha, would be the guests at the event among many other senior officers.

The first ever Iron Fist Exercise was held in 2013 where the magnificent capabilities of Indian Air Force were demonstrated. The event would be divided into 4 categories the flypast, defensive capabilities, offensive capabilities, and at the end the night operations. Reports say that the major fighter planes that would be displayed this year would be Mirage 2000, Jaguars, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, attack helicopters, MIG 21, and AWACS (Airborne Warning And Control Systems.

Let us tell you, Tejas, India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), will be the centre of attraction of the event day. Tejas is set to blaze missiles made in US and Russia. Astra, the Beyond-Visual-Range Air-to-Air Missile will be demonstrated fr the very first time in the history.

Apart from demonstrating the powerful aircraft, Indian Air Force will also showcase its mortal competency. The event aims at sending out a message to its contemporaries in favour of the Indian Military and its strengths be it the weapons, the aircraft or the acrobatic capabilities. Also, some new techniques such as all weather, network centric operations, firepower, weapon delivery boasts etc. will be flaunted at the event. The event could be watched live on  www.indianairforce.nic.in and the glimpses of the event would be covered by the national channel Doordarshan from 04:00pm to 08:00pm live.
