Prabhu Deva was born on 3 April in 1973 in Mysore, Karnataka in the Lingayat Family. He started learning Indian classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam from Dharmaraj and Udupi Lakshminarayanan as well as Western styles.
Prabhudeva: Years of Struggle
He was initially featured in a miscellany of commercially successful films. Films like Kadhalan (1994), Minsara Kanavu (1997), VIP (1997), amongst other such successful films paved the way for a bright film career for the legend. He was then seen in films like Kaathala Kaathala (1998) and Pola (2000), which received critical appreciation.
Emerged as a hero
Prabhu became a pivotal part of Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada films. But gradually, his presence in Bollywood saw a downtrend. Consequently, he made an entry into the direction space. He directed an entire range of films like Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, followed by other successful films.
Today, he is a choreographer, film director, producer and actor. He has been felicitated with two National Film Awards for Best Choreography. He has made films in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages such as Pokkiri (2007), Wanted (2009), Rowdy Rathore (2012) and Singh is Bling (2015).
Personal Life
As far as the personal life of Prabhu Deva is concerned, Prabhu Deva married Ramlath. They had three children, but their eldest son died of cancer in 2008. Prabhu then started living in with actress Nayantara. However, his wife filed a petition at the family court, seeking directions against Deva for the same. It was after a sequence of events and threats, that Nayantara confirmed in 2012 that she had ended her relationship with Prabhu Deva.
Prabhu is currently occupied with Mercury and Vinodhan. He is also leading choreography for Thugs of Hindostan, the film which is touted as a magnum opus and is starring Amir Khan, Katrina Kaif in the lead. Prabhu has also often been seen on reality dance shows like Dance Champions, etc.
