Indian Railways to begin World’s biggest recruitment drive; Filling 90,000 vacant posts

Calling it the world’s biggest recruitment drive, Indian Railways has begun the process to hire around 90000 employees for multiple posts in various departments of Railways. This is a gigantic hiring to be done by Indian Railways. This hiring is done under PM Modi’s government. This step has been taken as to counter the opposition’s claim of not creating enough employment opportunities. Under this hiring spree, the jobs are available from high school pass students to engineers.

The vacancies are available for gangmen, switchmen, trackmen, cabinmen, welders, helpers, assistant loco pilots, technicians and porters. In fact, notification has also been issued to hire 63,000 employees in group D category including gangmen and trackmen. Apart from this, a notification is issued for the posts of loco pilot and assistant loco pilot.

As per railway minister Piyush Goyal, vacancies in safety-related category will help in strengthening safety in train operations as there are a series of accidents. There are almost 1.2 lakh positions related to safety which are lying vacant. Railways is committed to ensure safety of passengers.

To apply for the job, the candidate must have cleared high school. For RRB Posts 2018, the candidates must have Educational/Technical qualifications from recognized university. Last date of application is 12th March. Applicants must be 18-31 years of age and will be recruited by the Railway Recruitment Cell.
