Bernice Abbott once said, “Photography helps people see.” This one statement holds a lot power, as photography is nothing short of magic, where the capturing of timeless moments can ignite in the viewer, emotions and memories lost in time, without a word being said. In India, the scope for photography has always held hidden, undiscovered offerings, especially with its varying culture, heritage and topography. The photographers have always surprised the global sphere with the fantastic choice of subjects they offer viewers. Here we show you the multiple platforms and levels on which Indians are pursuing this voiceless art. From professionals, part-timers to beginners, India has become a hub for photographers, both native and International, giving birth to a ferocious artistic amalgamation.

GLOBAL LEGENDS

PABLO BARTHOLOMEW

The art of capturing in a photo story, the silent narration of a story is the most unnerving talent and very seldom would you find a visual photographer who posses the talent to achieve this. Son to well-known photographer Richard Bartholomew, Pablo Bartholomew is one such photographer. Photographing important Indian events for 40 years now, this one man has the uncanny ability to capture the layers of personality in pictures. With most of his work internationally appreciated, he has managed to become one of the most acclaimed Indian photographers of all time. Pablo photographer the aftermath of the Bhopal Gas tragedy, the assassination aftermath of Indira Gandhi, the reign of Rajiv Gandhi and the dangerous Babri Masjid demolition and its aftermath. Here is a picture from his painful and unsettling collection titled, ‘Time is the Mercy of Eternity’ capturing the lifestyle of Morphine addicts in India.
