Former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Kalikho Pul has allegedly committed suicide. The 47 year old Congress minister was found dead at his residence this morning. Immediate police investigations have commenced in order to dig out some relevant clue behind this shocking decision Pul took. Reports are coming out stating the existence of a personal diary been marked out by the police till now and it might be key evidence in this case of suicide.
Kaliko Pul was found hanging at the Chief Ministers Residence in Itanagar which he had to vacate in a few days. It is definitely unbelievable and a shocking news coming from the state of Arunachal Pradesh, where it is known that North East politics is extremely difficult handle. Pul who was the 8th Chief Minister of AP, was simply considered a rising star in the political scenario and his alleged suicide has created a political vacuum. He was purely grounded as a person and operated as Chief Minister from February ’16 to July’16.
Initial reports suggest that, Pul was suffering from acute depression and was extremely upset after his appointment was struck down by the Supreme Court and which tagged him as an illegal chief minister. The intensity of political pressure may have been a major burden over him which led to such a tragic incident. But if we go by his nature and personality, he was known to be a person of strong determination and grit.
Pul lost his parents at a very young age. From being a carpenter, a furniture dealer, a watchman earning Rs 212 p.m, a paan and beedi seller to dying after serving as Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Kalikho Pul had more shades to him than we know.
He is survived by three wives and four children. The moment news of Pul’s death swelled up, all MLAs from Congress and the opposition parties, fellow ministers, close friends and public followers rushed to the bungalow.
Condolences from around the country are coming in through different social channels.
