Karan Johar purchases Bahubali rights for whopping 120 crore

Bahubali, the largest block-buster of Bollywood cinema gears up for the release of it’s much-awaited flick. The Hindi theatrical rights have been sold to filmmaker Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for Rs 120 crore (quite underrated though).

The film which is slated to be released on 28 April will be dubbed and presented in four languages: Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion stars Prabhas, Rana Dagubatti, Tamannah Bhatia and Anushka Shetty.

SS Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has apparently broken all records of success as it has smashed in an astronomical amount (130 crore, reportedly) even before its theatrical release.

The Makers of this marvelous film have also managed to earn whopping amounts of money by selling the satellite rights. The Hindi and Telugu satellite rights have been sold for Rs 51 crore and Rs 26 crore respectively.

From the sale of overseas rights, the makers have managed to get Rs 45 crore in North America.

Initially, Karan Johar was reluctant to pay such a massive sum but later succumbed to the temptation of becoming the rightful owner of the largest and the biggest movie made in the Indian hemisphere.

According to a media agency, the total amount which the makers have earned through the various transactions happened recently including the theatrical rights of the rest of the world, the satellite rights of the Tamil and Malayalam versions and the audio rights, it all totals upto about  500 crore. Isn’t this a milestone in Indian history?
