Thevote counting for Karnataka Assembly Elections began today’s morning. The early trends showed that it was a neck-and-neck battle between two strongest parties of India –Congress and the BJP. It was feeling that the competition was tough and it was not clear who would lead the Southern state of India. But, as the vote counting process is on, it is seen that BJP is taking lead and won 90 seats in Karnataka elections.
On May 12, 2018, voting was held for 222 out of 224 seats during Karnataka elections. The vote counting began from 8am today. This year, 72.36 per cent of the five crore eligible voters in Karnataka cast their votes. It is higher than voting held in 2013 state elections. According to exit polls, it was found out that BJP had 97 seats, Congress 90 seats and regional party Janata Dal Secular or JDS 31.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) poised to form a government on its own in the southern state of Karnataka. As the current voting the BJP is leading followed by Congress, JDS and others so people can expect the BJP’s rule in state.
Well… winning these elections is crucial for Congress as it will boost the morale of the party. Defeat may further slowdown the momentum for the party in other states. On one hand, BJP workers are celebrating outside the party’s headquarters in Bengaluru while Congress party workers are performing havans ahead of final results.

The BJP has achieved highest no. of seats and reached to 104. But, still it has not achieved the target of 112 seats for making party in the state. The Congress has settled down on 78 and JDS on 38. Going by the results, it is not clear that which party will come in power. In fact, no government can come in Karnataka without alliance.
