Kavita Devi becomes India’s first woman wrestler signed by blockbuster WWE

India is really developing and making the world proud of its achievements. Not only the men but also the women are making India proud. Recently, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced that it has signed Kavita Devi to developmental contracts. Talking about the women, Kavita is the first Indian woman to get this opportunity of becoming a WWE wrestler. Earlier, Jinder Mahal and The Great Khali are the two other Indians who have been part of the pro-wrestling business.

She got selected after the tryouts which consisted 40 men and women from the Middle East and India with diverse backgrounds in sports and athletics.

Who is Kavita Devi?
Talking about Kavita Devi’s profile, she is an accomplished powerlifter who won gold while representing India at the 2016 South Asian Games.She learned her ring skills from mentor The Great Khali or Dalip Singh Rana. She got popular after her video, in which she wrestled against a woman wrestler named B B Bull Bull, went viral on social media.

“It was a privilege to be the first Indian woman to compete in WWE,” said Kavita Devi. “Participating in the Mae Young Classic with some of the best female performers in the world was a great learning experience. Now I am looking forward to pursuing my dream of becoming the first WWE Women’s Champion from India.”

Jinder Mahal said,”I’m extremely proud to welcome Kavita to WWE where she now has a great opportunity to become India’s first female WWE Superstar. She is an inspiration to the youth of India and I wish nothing but success for her”.

WWE Performance Center
The WWE Performance Center is the home of the developmental system for WWE. Performance Center allows new recruits to hone their skills through a comprehensive program that includes in-ring training, physical preparedness and character development.

Kavita is expected to begin her training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, starting January 2018 as per WWE.
