Kejriwal’s Plea results in High Court notice to Jaitley

The New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal never misses a chance to play the blame game with the Central Government and this time, the Finance Minister of India, Arun Jaitley is on his target. It was started by Arun Jaitley when he filed a criminal defamation case against Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders. The Delhi CM pleaded to the High Court to issue a stay order on the proceedings of the court. The notice issued to Arun Jaitley was concerned to this matter in which the High Court Justice P.S. Teji seeks Jaitley’s response by the earliest of 21st August. The Kejriwal plea challenged the trial court’s 19th May order which rejected his plea that there are two cases – one civil and another criminal – filed against the AAP leaders and one of them should be stayed.

It all started with the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) controversy in which Arun Jaitley filed the criminal defamation complaint alleging Kejriwal and the five AAP leaders for allegedly defaming him. The reason of Kejriwal’s action was because Jaitley was the president of DDCA from December1999 to December 2013. Jaitley stated that his allegations had lowered his dignity in the eyes of public along with insulting his family. Other than this criminal defamation case, Jaitley also filed a civil defamation suit in Delhi High Court demanding Rs.10 crores as damages from all the accused of AAP party for issuing allegedly false and defamatory statements against him and his family over alleged wrongdoing in the DDCA when he was its President.
