Kulbhushan Jadhav who is claimed to be Indian spy by Pakistan meets his family today. He is sentenced to death in Pakistan. He met his wife and mother almost after more than one year of arrest by the Pakistani army. They met at Pakistan Foreign Office and seated across a glass partition. His family is accompanied in the meeting by Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh. The meeting was held for an hour. For the safety of Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family, India had sought a “sovereign guarantee” from Pakistan.

After this meeting, Pakistan’s foreign office claimed that Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family was satisfied with the meeting. Even Jadhav also thanked the Pakistani government as he could meet his family. In fact, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson said that this meeting between Mr Jadhav and his family was not the last which means he can meet his family again.

In this meeting, there was no physical contact of Jadhav with his family and he talked his family only through intercom. Pakistan also admitted that this could not be called “consular access.” Even Pakistan claimed this meeting a humanitarian gesture but it seems that Pakistan would get political benefit from this.
