Largest DefExpo to boost Make in India

Today on Monday, during current year’s Defence Expo India, nation’s Defence Minister Manohar Parikar disclosed the much awaited Defence Procurement Policy. The event is being held in Goa and being in its ninth year, is all set to showcase exhibition of Naval, Land and Internal Homeland Security Systems, like always. He told the invited media that this new formed policy would give boost to ‘Make In India’ initiative”.

Mr Parikar inaugurated the event with greater zeal. Sources say that this year undermines the grandeur of all the previous year’s events as more than 1,000 companies, both Indian and foreign, are taking part in the fair this time. With overall 510 companies, partaking by Indian companies has doubled since 2014 which witnessed participation by 256 companies. Total 490 foreign companies are participating this year in opposition to 368 in DefExpo 2014.

All in all 47 countries are engaging in this year’s exhibition as compared to 30 countries last time. These countries include Egypt, Finland, France, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Sweden, UK, Germany, Israel, Japan and USA. The exhibition is expected to have a live demonstration of air show on March 28-29 at the location which is situated adjacent to the Arabian Sea.
