Manmohan Desai: An unsung hero of Indian cinema. Here’s a tribute to the legendary filmmaker

Manmohan Desai delivered an array of top-class films which topped the Bollywood charts across his regime. Manmohan served the Indian masses with lots of masala and hence his films were often termed as “Masala films”.  He contributed to the Indian movie industry for over 29 years. As many as 13 films made by him were fantastically appreciated across the industry for its quality and entertainment.

It was Manmohan Desai’s brother Subhash Desai who gave Manmohan his first break in a Hindi film titled Chhalia. Manmohan then directed films like Bluff Master, Dharam Veer, and Desh Premee with the help of his doting brother.

Manmohan Desai: Insight into Personal Life 

Manmohan was married to Jeevanprabha Desai, who died in  April 1979. Later, he got engaged to actress Nanda in 1992 but could never marry her as he breathed his last in 1994. Until the time of his death in 1994. He met a tragic death experience as he reportedly fell from the balcony in Goregoan. He was also suffering from severe back pain.

Manmohan had a magical tryst with Amitabh Bachchan. He worked on several films with him like Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish, Suhaag, Coolie, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati to name a few. He also worked with Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Mumtaz, Randhir Kapoor, Rekha, Shatrughan Sinha and a host of other renowned names of the industry.

Manmohan Desai and musical melodies 

Manmohan also shared a close connection with music and melodies. It was quite known a fact that his favorite playback singer of all times was Mohd Rafi. He also said at a public gathering that Mohd Rafi’s voice is God’s voice.
