Mithali Raj calls for women’s IPL

England beat India to lift the ICC Women’s World Cup title at Lord’s in London. Despite the runners up finish, the Indian women cricket team has done the entire nation proud with their brilliant performance in the tournament. Even though the women in blue could not lift the desirable cup, reaching the finals is a big accomplishment in itself for the Indian women’s cricket team.

The Mithali Raj led team played an amazing cricket in this tournament and the girls surely deserve a pat on their back for their unending spirit and true passion.

The entire nation acknowledges the effort put in by the Indian women cricket team. Their performance in this tournament has taken the sports to the next level. The girls have set the new platform for the upcoming generations in India and have opened up the channels for women’s cricket.  The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket) is also really proud of the team.

India’s collapse was sparked by Punam Raut’s exit for 86 which was the top score of the final.  Electing to bat first, England produced a competitive total of 228 for seven in their 50 overs. However, the Indians seemed to lose their faith towards the end, losing seven wickets for just 28 runs to be all out for 219 runs in 48.4 overs.

According to Mithali Raj, if more girls participate in such leagues, it will give them understanding and help them to improve their own sport. She states that this is the right time that they should have women’s IPL as this will help them to create a right base.  Mithali, the all time leading run-scorer in women’s one day international praised the England players for winning their fourth Women’s Cricket World Cup title and stated that the inexperience of her teammates and their inability to hold their nerves during the crucial moments proved to be the dissimilarity between the two teams England and India,  in the final.

The team may not have won the title, but they have won a million hearts. This has made a huge difference to the future of the sport.
