Narendra Modi Africa tour – Strengthening bond between India and Africa

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his tour of Africa for strengthening knots of the relationship between India and Africa which is centuries old from the time of struggle for freedom and justice in South Africa. The Indian PM is visiting four African nations on his tour with the hopes of tying energy and trade deals with them. India has a cultural bond with Africa which started when Mahatma Gandhi commenced his Satyagraha Movement in South Africa after completing his lawyer’s degree.

The ties between these two nations being separated by the Indian Ocean range back to the British and Portuguese colonial rule. In the past decades, India has exported spices to Africa and now the Modi Government is signing a contract with Mozambique to import “lentils”, commonly known as “Daal” in India at an affordable price. Also, they will be advising the state on their cultivation so that their lentils taste just like home-grown fare. So Mr. Modi has signed a deal with Mozambique to produce 100,000 tones of pulses over the next year, which it aims to double in four years at a fixed price.

During his five-day tour to Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, and Kenya, interactions about the issues like energy, food security, trade, maritime cooperation and Diaspora will be considered important. Hence, this visit is aimed to establish and extend the trade and commercial relations between the two nations.
