We all know leading designer Masaba Gupta. Who we might not know is her mother Neena Gupta. She is a popular face in the last generation but millennials are unlikely to be familiar with her name. She has been frequenting on Television and featuring on TV soaps like Saans, Siski, Saat Phere and Kamzor Kadii Kaun.
She opened up about her life and calls it a tough journey. She also reflected what she thinks about money- she says its the most important thing.
The actress whose recent stint in Bollywood was Badhaai Ho is quite happy with the tremendous response that the movie has received. She also said that working on TV gave her fame, money and name. In movies, she was not getting substantial roles, so she chose to go for television. This is what she said: “I used to get small and useless roles in movies. Then I thought I should do just TV and today the fan following I have is because of working on television.’
“When I came from Delhi to become an actor there were only films and no TV. Working in films is an aspiration for all actors. When I did not get roles in films then I did TV and got a chance to play all kinds of roles. TV gave me money, fame and name,” Neena added.
Last year, Neena took the internet by storm when she came out urging for good roles for women. This year, she was seen in Veere Di Wedding and Mulk apart from Badhaai Ho.
Talking about Badhaai ho, she said its more about ageless love. She said: “It is an important thing and I don’t think anyone has ever spoken about this. The more I worked in the film, the more I realised that it is very important and is more than just ‘hasi, mazaak.”
Shedding light on her motherhood, she said: “I had no money. Money is the most important thing, I have realised in this world. I didn’t have a husband and relatives. So it was really tough, but the joy Masaba gave me… The joy of motherhood… She was a very good child she did not trouble me much.”
