Wicked villain and KLF leader Mintoo was involved in 2008 attacks on Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa and smuggling of explosives at Halwara Air Force station in 2010. In 2014, he was arrested at Delhi’s IGI airport by Punjab Police and transferred to Nabha jail in Punjab.

Sunday morning around 8 am, two cars (Fortuner and Verna) arrived near the jail gate with ten armed men clad in police uniforms. They freely entered accessed the jail premises, launching about 100 rounds of fire at police officers and security guards. Amidst this unexpected attack, they managed to free Mintoo and four other culprits. The unprepared jail security team failed to respond thus, putting up serious questions on jail authorities.

Once the government took notice of this incident, Deputy CM Sukbhir Singh Badal suspended the jail DG. While DGP Suresh Arora delved into the inefficacy of security measures, Sukhbir Badal appointed a special task force under ADGP to locate the escaped offenders.

Vineet Joshi, who is an advisor to the Punjab CM, assured the media that Mintoo and his other inmates will be arrested within 48 hours.

Measures Implemented for Mintoo’s Arrest

Within 24 hours of Mintoo’s arrest a manhunt launched by Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Mintoo near Delhi-Haryana border, based on the inputs provided by Punjab police. The convict made a suspicious call to his partner in crime based in Subhash Nagar Delhi. This call was intercepted to track his location.

A few hours prior to this arrest, Parminder Singh, the mastermind of this daring daylight offense was detained from a getaway Toyota Fortuner in Kairana, Uttar Pradesh. Three guns, one self-loading rifles and ammunition was recovered from the van.
