Nagaur Set Ablaze by Rajput Protestants, 25 Cops Injured during Anandpal’s Condolence Meet

Violence spreads in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district when over one lakh Rajput Protestants demanded a CBI inquiry into gangster Anandpal’s alleged encounter. The mass aggression caused death of a civilian and injuries to 25 cops…

Anandpal wrecks havoc on Rajasthan, even in death. The impromptu demise of a Mafia sachem brought violence, mass destruction, death, and injuries to several others across the state. Accusing the government of allegedly ‘encountering’ the gangster, more than one lakh Anandpal supporters assembled in Nagaur district’s Sanvrad village. His community members grabbed this opportunity for selfish interests. Aggravated dissidents observing Anandpal’s condolence ceremony in Nagaur resorted to widespread destruction.

They torched vehicles and attacked Rajasthan police officers who tried to control the violent mob. Around 25 policemen and three civilians were injured, one of them was killed. Paris Deshmukh, the Superintendent of Police, was among the cops who were injured in Sanvrad violence.

Rajasthan police were prepared for the worst. Following this incident, the government instantly shut down the internet services in Nagaur and imposed Section 144 for public safety. The police deterred the Protestants from the scene, nonetheless, the situation continues to be tense, and volatile in the district.

A few self-styled Rajput leaders grabbed this opportunity to fuel Anandpal’s family for political gains. 19 days since the gangster’s death, the family refused to cremate his corpse, unless the government gives the consent for CBI investigations. The government tried to diffuse the situation by proposing SIT investigation earlier, but the compromise was refused by Anandpal’s family. Knowing that Rajasthan state assembly elections are just around the corner, the leaders glamorized Anandpal’s issue, giving it a ‘communal’ touch in a bid to whet Rajputs against the government.

Troubled by this situation the state Human Rights Commission recommended the government to make arrangements for Anandpal’s funeral service within 24 hours on the humanitarian ground if the family refuses to conduct the cremation.

Today, Rajasthan burns in the flames of bloodshed, communalism, and discord. By giving hype to Anandpal’s death, the supports are unknowingly setting a wrong example for younger generations that will know how to use their rights and power in the name of justice. Therefore, the so-called supporters of Anandpal need to make a choice: Do they want a future full of bloodshed for their kids or a safe, peaceful and loving society for their all-round growth.
