Narsingh Yadav, who is a national level wrestler and was about to represent India in the Rio Olympics 2016 was shocked to know that he has failed the Dope test on July 26th,2016. All his hopes were shattered and his dream to represent India in Olympics was busted. But now, there is good news for every Indian and Narsingh Yadav himself. The National Anti-Doping Association (NADA), the agency who conducts a dope test for the players of Olympics, has given a clean chit to Yadav on Monday, August 1st, 2016. Also, he is now being allowed to participate in the Rio Olympics.

A discretionary panel of NADA who had analyzed the case of Narsingh Yadav had come to the conclusion that the player is just a victim of sabotage and there is no fault being done on his part. It is only an example of negligence that such event happened.

The verdict of the panel was read out by NADA DG Naveen Agarwal saying that, “There is no fault and negligence on Narsingh Yadav’s part; he is a victim of sabotage done by a competitor. We kept in mind that in the past, until June 2, none of his samples were positive. It was inconceivable that one-time ingestion would be of benefit. Therefore the panel is of the view that the one-time ingestion was not intentional.”

The article 10.4 of NADA’s Anti-doping code was applied and the wrestler gets the benefit of the same.

Earlier, Narsingh has failed the dope which stated that he consumed a banned steroid in an out-of-competition test conducted by NADA. He is a74kg freestyle wrestler handpicked by Olympic Silver medalist Sushil Kumar for the Rio games.

Due to the failed test, he was restrained from participating and thus was replaced by Praveen Rana in the Olympic Bound squad but now after NADA’s verdict, he will be reinstated.

After the positive verdict, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) vice-president Tarlochan Singh ensured that there will be no hurdles in Yadav joining the team as far as the procedures are concerned. He said, “It’s a healthy sign for Indian sports. He (Narsingh) was unnecessarily being made a victim by a certain interested person. We are very happy that NADA has taken a proper decision at the right moment. He can very easily reach Rio and join the Indian team. NADA has taken time but has taken proper decision.”

Though, Narsingh Yadav will still have to go through a reinstatement test before he boards the flight to Rio the time he clears for participation by WADA / IOC.
