This serene place was first opened for the regular tourists during the popular Indo-China war of 1962. This was once, one of the most popular Indo-Tibet trade route. After the 1962 war, the valley was restricted not only for the tourists but also for the locals for almost 53 years since then. And due to this no infrastructure development ever took place in the valley. Let us tell you that is what makes it even more special. Also because there was no external interference for so long, it became the natural habitat of the wild Himalayan animals including the blue sheep, musk deer, snow leopards etc. Nature has itself created beautiful over bridges, and scenery making it a perfect picturesque place.

But, only a total number of 6 vehicles can enter the valley at a time in a day as per the government directions. The forest department facilitates the tourist activities; and to visit the valley, which is well above 3,000 meters, also requires a fitness certificate.
