Now BJP has ‘Dhaai Kilo ka Haath’; Actor Sunny Deol joins saffron party

As Lok Sabha elections across the country are in full swing, Actor Sunny Deol joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) after long conjectures after his meeting with BJP supremo Amit Shah a few days back. Sunny Deol, 62, held a press conference today to announce his joining to the saffron party in presence of Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal.

Sunny Deol, after joining BJP, said, “The way my Papa worked with and supported Atal Ji, I am here today to work with and support Modi Ji. My work will do the talking.

BJP chief Amit Shah met actor Sunny Deol in Pune on Friday. The meeting comes as the party is yet to announce candidates for three seats in Punjab for the ongoing national election. According to sources, Shah met the actor to convince him to contest from Amritsar.

Sunny Deol’s father, veteran actor Dharmendra had a brief stint in politics about ten years ago when he contested the 2004 national election from Rajasthan’s Bikaner on BJP ticket and won. Last week, the veteran actor campaigned for his wife, actor and BJP lawmaker Hema Malini, in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura.

Punjab will vote in a single phase, on May 19, the last day of the seven-phased national election.
