On Day 6 of rescue ops, 3 bodies of trapped people recovered from Asansol coal mine

Earlier this week, in the early hours of Friday morning, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recovered the bodies of two remaining persons trapped in a coal mine in the Kulti region of Asansol.

On Thursday night, the NDRF team recovered one body.

The event took place on 13 October, when four people allegedly attempted to illegally dig the mine, during which the three were arrested.

The coal mine is reportedly made up of toxic methane gas inside and people being stuck lost their consciousness because of its impact.

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) tried to extend the mine’s entry in order to help them. Many missing people are being hunted for and evacuated.

Few days ago when the incidence came to notice, officials reported, “Police informed us that three persons are trapped in an illegal mine at Aldhi village in Kulti. Our rescue team failed to enter the pit twice due to poisonous gas at the mouth of the pit, which is narrow,”
