Maharana Pratap, the son of Maharana Udai Singh was an outstanding warrior and an excellent fruit of the Mewar Dynasty. His striking confidence during his rebels against Mughal Emperor Akbar formed the pathway for his glory and meritorious reign. The Rajput blood that flowed in him always ignited an inextinguishable nationalist fire which aided him in all his battles. Pratap was one of those rulers, who wore his self respect like an honor and was always ready to renunciate any worldly treasure for the sake of it.

Today on his birth anniversary, we should take a look at what great personal and professional battles he fought and how he left no stone unturned to make his life nothing less than an inspiration for everyone else.

PRATAP VS AKBAR

Pratap being the eldest son and the moral example for all his 25 brothers and 29 sisters, imbibed a fearless attitude towards the wrong doings of the world around him. His reign had a major clash with the Mughal Empire and his ruler Akbar, and all we can clearly remember about him was his self-defiant struggles against Akbar because he never really accepted him as the king. All the negotiation alliances from Akbar’s side failed when came to Pratap’s notice and nothing could change the cruel image Akbar has in his mind.

PRATAP IN HALDI GHATI BATTLE

Fights against the Mughals never ceased for Pratap, as this was seen in the battle of Haldi Ghati where Mughal’s Man Singh commanded over 80,000 soldiers and Pratap only had a number of 20,000 to face them. Even then, with his brave mind and caliber, Pratap demonstrated hi valor by personally attacking Man Singh.

PRATAP AND CHETAK

Prataps white shining horse, Chetak is equally famous like its rider. After all matching up with Prataps speed and tactics, Chetak had to be alert and fast accordingly. It is said that they shared a great bond of friendship and you could never see Pratap riding another horse. It was Chetak who helped his valiant rider to attack Raja Man Singh at Haldighati and got hurt badly and died eventually.

PRATAP AND HIS SWORDS

Pratap was known for carrying 2 swords, and both weighed 90 kgs each. He used to offer his second sword to his enemy itself if he didn’t have one to fight. This shows us how he believed in equal measures to sort  to even sort out things like fights.
