Ooty Summer Festival: Brace Yourself to Rejoice in the Lap of Nature

As the month of May has begun, the Ooty Summer Festival 2018 is all set to commence filled with elements of natural beauty possessed by the place. It’s one of the biggest summer festivals of India that is attended by tourists from far off places. It’s not just a 2-3 day celebration; rather the festivities go on throughout the month. The 2018 edition will begin from May 4th and will go on until May 27th whereby several events and programs are scheduled.

Reportedly, the preparations for the summer festival have begun at the Government Botanical Garden and the Government Rose Garden in Ooty. Apart from several parks and gardens, some parts of the celebrations will also take place at the Ooty Lake. The Directorate of Horticulture and Plantation Crops N Subbaiyan announced the dates of various shows that are scheduled to take place in the Nilgiris.

Here is the complete schedule of the Ooty Summer Festival:

• May 4th: Spice Show at Gudalur
• May 5-6: Vegetable Show at Nehru Park in Kotagiri
• May 12-13: Rose Show at Government Rose Garden
• May 18-20: Flower Show at Ooty Botanical Gardens
• May 26-27: Fruit Show at Sim’s Park in Coonoor

For the Flower Show, there are going to be more than 15,000 flower pots of different varieties on display. Besides, around 3 Lakhs flower saplings of more than 52 varieties and 150 types have been planted at the Government Botanical Garden.

Talking about the rose show, around 30,000 rose plants of 4000 varieties are planted at the Ooty Rose Garden that makes a must-visit. Also, reports suggest that this year, the practice of erecting structures with fruits and vegetables during the show will be discontinued. There will also be a Night Bazaar on the Commercial Road and boat races on the Ooty Lake.
