Ola, the Indian online transportation network company after getting all the praises for their free rides past the Kolkata over bridge tragedy has now achieved another benchmark in transportation. The company on their app has launched a new e-rickshaw category for the Delhi-NCR people to ride on. This new service was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a part of entrepreneurship promoting initiative, ‘Stand Up India’.

Pranay Jivrajka, Ola Chief Operating Officer said “A total of 5,100 Ola e-rickshaws will be launched in partnership with Bhartiya Micro Credit (BMC) at the event and will be deployed across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. This will be further scaled up in the coming months to more small towns and Tier III cities.” He added, ““We will soon launch ride sharing options, which will bring down the cost.”

The rides will have to pay 24 rupees for the first two kilometres and then Rs 8 for every kilometre thereafter.

He further said, “Citizens in these cities and towns currently suffer from lack of convenient and reliable mobility options, especially for short distances. E-rickshaws are an affordable and greener alternative in these cities that can serve mobility needs unique to these small towns and cities in India,”

We hope this shall be soon implemented throughout the country.
