Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the father of Indian Constitution, on his 60th death anniversary and said that India will always be thankful to Babasaheb for his rich service to the nation.

PM tweeted ,”I bow to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Nirvan Divas. India will always be thankful to Babasaheb for his rich service to the nation”.

 A special event was held at the Parliament complex to commemorate his death, which was attended by Vice President Hamid Ansari, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran leader LK Adavani, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and other top-notches in the political arena. The Prime Minister presented floral tributes to Ambedkar at Parliament function.

Lakhs of people are expected to converge at ‘Chaitya Bhoomi’ to witness the funeral rites of the legend.‘Chaitya Bhoomi’ is where Ambedkar’s ashes have been interred. The last rites are scheduled to be performed in the later part of the day.

 The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai – MCGM has made all the required arrangements for the convenience of pilgrims who come to visit ‘Chaitya Bhoomi’ on Mahaparinirvan Diwas. MCGM has set up 10 control rooms to guide visitors and nearly 11 ambulances have been stationed at various locations in and around Shivaji Park and Chaityabhoomi.

With a massive amount of people expected to visit Chaityabhoomi, the venue will be kept under constant CCTV surveillance.

There has been an ultra thoughtful and preventive protocol undertaken to ensure smooth and hassle-free programme from it’s commencement to culmination. More than 400 stalls, nearly  about 200 mobile toilets, water tankers have been installed at the site. Utility vehicles and fire engines have also been set up for the convenience of the visitors.

Mumbai Police too has made steady arrangements to maintain law and order at all times.Major steps have been taken to ensure smooth flow of traffic throughout the programme times

Around 750 workers have been put on duty round the clock at the venue and Dadar Chowpatty beach. Reportedly,Dadar area will be lined up with the book stalls to create a comprehensive understanding of the luminary.
