In order to support refugee children, Actress Priyanka Chopra flew to Jordan. These kids are uprooted from Syria and took haven in Jordan. Being a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, she was interviewed by The Associated Press at UNICEF Country Office in Amman, Jordan.

She said that the world must do more to help these Syrian refugee children. She further added that individual donations could also help if governments won’t step up. “I think the world needs to understand that this is not just a Syrian refugee crisis, it’s a humanitarian crisis,” she said. She also asserted that people like me and others can really bring changes.

Since 2011, approximately 5 million Syrians have fled due to civil war in their homeland. They took shelter in nearby Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt. Educating these refugee Syrian children is also challenging as the host countries became overburdened. Many U.N. and aid agencies supporting the refugees routinely face large funding gaps.

She also visited a UNICEF-backed children’s center in Jordan’s capital of Amman. Priyanka interacted with the kids and moved by the hopefulness of these children. Crowned as Miss World in the year 2000, Priyanka Chopra has proved herself not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood.
