The heavy downpour in Chennai city of Indian State of Tamil Nadu has surpassed the records of 100 years, which has greatly affected every bit of life, leaving city at an absolute halt. The central government has allotted Rs.940 cr for the relief work in flood affected areas.

Apart from the efforts of government celebrities of the state has also shown courtesy towards the flood affected people of Chennai. Kollywood actors including Superstar Rajnikant and other have donated huge funds to PM relief fund, which will use towards rescuing lives and other such works. On the other hand a well-known actor Siddarth is playing his role, by supplying food packets to the masses who are locked in their houses due to heavy rain.

Schools and Colleges will remain closed for a week and examinations have been postponed, due to the water logging on the roads. The heavy rain has also affected the public transport and connectivity of the state, where all the flight (domestic and International) are canceled along with trains from various parts of the country.
