Rajasthan Divas: A 16 day long festival testifying the state’s rich Culture and Art. Here is the schedule; mark your calendars

The state of Rajasthan has drenched in the colors of culture, aesthetics, art, and Bollywood with the extravagant celebrations of the Rajasthan Divas.

The Rajasthan Divas which is observed on March 30 had an early start by 11 days. The early start of celebrations was aimed at full inclusion of the public in the festivities and extravaganza.

“Rajasthan Day belongs to all Rajasthanis. The activities have been sewed up keeping in mind their diverse interests, faiths, passions, etc. Besides well-known names in the music world such as Pandit Birju Maharaj and Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, we have paid special attention to the local talent by giving prominent space to bands like Swarag and Rubaru. We have reached out to all communities and age-groups to make the festivities inclusive,” said Subodh Agarwal, additional chief secretary, tourism and culture, forest and environment.

Rajasthan Divas: A melange of Art and Culture

The Rajasthan Day celebrations will encompass kathak dances, music concerts, light and sound shows and film festivals, traditional and cultural performances like bhajans, aarti, qawwalis, and Gurbani. These cultural performances will happen at temples, museums, dargahs and gurudwaras in the city.

The traditional lighting of the Rajasthan Day Torch will mark the main three-day Rajasthan festival will begin on March 28.

March 28, 2018

5 – 9pm: Display of Divisional Tablu with Folk Artist on Janpath.

6:30 pm – Drama at the Mirza Sahaban Theater Olympics, Ravindra Manch

A short film festival on culture and tourism will be on March 29, when the facade of Albert Hall Museum will witness a cycle marathon from Albert Hall to Jawahar Circle in the evening. This will be followed by Army showcasing the band and riding skills.

March 29, 2018

6 am – Bicycle Marathon Albert Hall Museum to Jawahar Circle

9 am to 5 pm – Film festival at Inox Crystal Palm at Sardar Patel Marg. (inauguration by Bollywood actress Madhu and Manisha Koirala)

5 am to 6:30 pm – Army show at JDA Polo Ground

6:30 pm – Bhagwat Jezeu Kiyam Drama at the Theater Olympics

7 pm – Mega Concert by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy at the Albert Hall Museum

Culminating the Rajasthan Divas on March 30, the tourism department has curated something very special for the Rajasthanis. An upgraded version of what happened last year, 2018 Rajasthan Divas will feature a state-of-the-art projection mapping show on the façade of the Vidhan Sabha.

Masala Chowk: A venue for pre-festival celebrations

The Masala Chowk, a hot spot for all Rajasthanis since its inauguration on January 26, was the focal destination for Rajasthan Utsav festivities for the last three days. Soul-wrenching brands like Swraag and Rubaru performed at the Chowk on Saturday. Another one-of-a-kind concert was performed at the Chowk on Sunday.

Today, i.e. Monday, the legendary singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Pandit Birju Maharaj will perform at the Chowk. Are you still thinking to go to Masala Chowk? If you are a Rajasthani, this isn’t something you should miss; A 16-day long festival testifying the state’s rich Culture and Art.
