Rajasthan Government to procure garlic produce at 3200 per quintal

The Rajasthan government is always on its toes to mitigate all difficulties for its farmers. From providing MSP to waiving huge loan amounts, the government led by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has not only bettered the condition of the farmers but also brought a true smile on their faces.

As a part of government’s relentless efforts to meet farmers’ needs and aspirations, it has decided to buy garlic for providing value to the farmers.

The government has extended maximum help towards boosting farmer’s confidence and giving them a decent standard of living. Garlic farmers were not able to get the market prices due to bumper production this year, thereby demoralizing farmer’s confidence and bringing an unceremonious upheaval in their lives.

And this is not the first time, Rajasthan government had earlier brought immense relief to the producer farmers, as they procured Quinoa at a rate of 6000 per quintal.

The Rajasthan government will buy garlic produce from farmers, a proposition for which Central government’s nod has also been received, Ajay Singh Kilak, Rajasthan Cooperative Minister informed.

Buy this garlic MIS (Market Intervention Scheme). He said that ‘Raj-fed’ would buy this five centers in the state-Kota, Khanpur, Chhipa Baroda, Keshorai Patan and Pratapgarh.

Garlic will be bought at a price of Rs. 3200 per quintal

A price of 3200 per quintal will be offered to the farmers in exchange for 1 quintal of Garlic, Kilak informed. 10 thousand metric ton garlic would be procured from farmers, Kilak added. The procurement process would be started shortly, Kilak informed.

Government’s Objective of buying Garlic from farmers

The decision to buy Garlic from the farmers is fuelled by the intention to provide right value for the produce. Moreover, the government wants to avoid wastage and hence, it has taken this decisive step which will be in the interest of garlic producing farmers. The priority of CM Raje, however, is to provide a fair price to the farmers for their hard work and produce.
