Amidst a plethora of events driven towards the women empowerment, various schemes and initiatives in nexus with this cause have been ushered by in at state and centre level. Amongst all such states which have pioneered dynamic schemes to bolster girls education and lifestyle enrichment, the state of Rajasthan announced it’s ‘Devnarayan Scheme of Distribution of Scooty’.
The State of Rajasthan is taking earnest efforts towards the direction of Girl child education. Amidst all benefits which the state has bestowed upon the state girls, it also formulated a functional scheme for the purpose of promoting Girl education.
Under this scheme, girls from Other Backward Category (OBC), under graduate girls who are residents of Rajasthan will get scooty as a reward for their hardwork and dedication. Moreover, the girls who are in their second or third year or pursuing post-graduation studies of under graduation will get scholarship.
This scheme is highly centric towards the academic progression of girls pursuing under-graduation, irrespective of their chosen fields.
The scheme commenced in the year 2011-2012. The scheme has been operated in two phases.
The government distributed first 500 scooties in the first scheme, while in the second phase of the scheme i.e. 2012-2013, the government distributed as many as 1000 scooties.
Eligibility for Devnarayan Scheme of Distribution of Scooty:
- OBC category
- Rajasthan resident
- HSC examination scores must be above 50% marks
- Families income not be more than Rs. 2 Lakhs
Benefits of Devnarayan Scheme over a period:
- Scooty in their first year: Girls studying in their first year of graduation (bachelors) will bag a scooty on applying for the scheme from her respective college registered with any government organizations like NAAC, Universities, etc.
- Scholarship to 2nd& 3rd year student: Other girls who are in their 2nd and 3rd year of bachelors will get 10,000 scholarship per year.
- Scholarship to girls in P.courses: Girls in their post-graduation courses will be getting 20, 000 per year
- Girls education promotion in OBC category:With this scheme, girl education got importance. Even girls from OBC category are getting education from good institutes.
Application form:
To become a beneficiary of this scheme, eligible students may submit an application form for the scheme with required documents to the principal of her college where she is pursuing her undergraduate studies. (Application form is available at the following link:

- Application form
- Marksheets of previous years
- Residential Proof (electricity bill, water connection bill, gas connection bill, ration card, voter id, Aadhar card, pan card or driving license)
- Aadhar Card
- Passport size photograph (min 2 copies)
- Family’s/Guardian’s Income Certificate
- Bank passbook having (bank name, branch name, account holder name, account number, IFSC & MICR code)
Note: For the purpose of scholarship, the girl student must score atleast 55% marks in her last examination.
