Rajasthan helps Maharashtra again by sending water tankers for ‘Latur Water Crisis’

To help and cater to the water needs of parched Marathwada region in Maharashtra, another train with 50 wagons of 27 lakh litre capacity left from Rajasthan’s Kota city. Marathwada is struggling under drastic drought conditions and it is the first time that water requirements reached such severe levels.

The second train, which left from Kota Railway Station, will be travelling a stretch of 1370 Kms to reach its destination and provide the deprived the amount of water relief they are waiting for. Before this, it was on 8th April that the first train carrying water started from Kota towards Marathwada. The Latur district administration has occupied an enormous well located near the railway station to store up the water which is being supplied to the town through various ways.

Ministry of Railways is trying its best to provide Kota with well accommodated goods trains which can travel up to the thirsty area of Maharashtra. The respective trains are loaded with 50 wagons, each with an individual capacity to hold 54,000 litres of water.

The striking irony being played over cannot be ignored. Well, it is surprising how a dry-desert region is helping out a humid region. This is India, anything can happen and anyone is happy to help anyone.
