Did you know that three out of every four kilometer of national highways constructed by the government are from Rajasthan? Yes, that’s true. Rajasthan is one of the fastest growing constructors of national highways in the country. The state government has a concrete roadmap laid for outer ring road projects and Gramin Gaurav Paths (roads connecting Rajasthan villages to urban metropolises). Currently, the state contributes 75% in national highway projects.

But, that’s not all! Recently, the public works department minister Mr. Yunus Khan has announced more projects worth Rs 850 crores in various constituencies.

To our joys, the Centre has sectioned more projects worth Rs 5,000 crore for connecting Udaipur, Kishangarh and Jaipur via Gujarat. With these projects, the government intends to elevate tourism and trade activities by improving intra and inter road connectivity.

Just recently, the PWD has announced the construction of a road worth Rs 200 crores on Brij Chaurasi Kos Yatra. This road will lead to Narora in Uttar Pradesh. Other projects on the list include Fatehnagar road in Cittorgarh and roads connecting Akola to Kir ki Chowki. Concurrently, the government will Work on Urban Development & Housing Sectors

The urban development and housing minister of Rajasthan—Mr. Shrichand Kriplani has announced ‘Mukyamantri Jan Awaas Yojana’ in all UITs. This residential project is worth Rs 90. 31 crores will provide permanent residence for BPL (Below Poverty Line) and LIG (Lower income group). These affordable houses will accommodate 11,000 families in Rajasthan. For those who don’t know, the starting price of these homes is below Rs 2 lakh, which is a reasonable amount for lower and middle-class families.
According to Mr. Kriplani, the state currently lacks in 10.5 lakh homes. Many widows, single working women and divorcees are compelled to live in rented houses. For such people, the government has launched A JDA specific scheme in Begas village. The minister is positive that this will sort out accommodation issues in the state.

Just recently, the Rajasthan housing board was all over the media for its poor functioning and abysmal construction. Therefore, the government is planning to geo-tag new homes to ensure high standards of construction. The idea is to provide affordable housing for all before 2020—a dream of Indian PM Narendra Modi.
