Counting of votes of the elections held in two phases in the six municipal corporations of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota in Rajasthan is under way. A total of 2,238 candidates are in the fray for the 560 wards of the six newly-formed municipal corporations of Jaipur Heritage, Jaipur Greater, Jodhpur North, Jodhpur South, Kota North and Kota South.

Out of total 80 wards of Jodhpur (South) Municipal Corporation, BJP won 43, while Congress candidates won on 29 seats, and Independents bagged 8 seats. We will share with you the equation of seats that was noted at around 2 p.m. in the afternoon.

Jaipur Greater – 150: Congress – 14, BJP – 22, Other – 3

Jaipur Heritage – 100: Congress – 25, BJP – 14, Others – 5

Jaipur Greater: Congress – 13, BJP – 15, Other- 04

Jaipur Heritage: Congress -18, BJP – 11, Other -03

Power equation of political parties in the Blue City remains balanced after the ruling party Congress dominated in Jodhpur Municipal Corporation (North) and BJP emerged victorious in Jodhpur Municipal Corporation (South).

In a closely fought contest, ruling party Congress emerged victorious in the Jaipur heritage municipal corporation. Out of total 100 wards, the Congress won 47 seats. BJP secured 42 seats. 11 independent candidates who won the election will play a crucial role in the formation of board in Jaipur heritage.

After a meeting at Pratap Singh Khachariyawas residence, Congress winning candidates from JMC heritage will be shifted to a hotel. They will remain there till November 10 when mayor’s election will be held.
