Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ is ruling the box office since it had a two-week run at the theaters. With no big release, Sultan is on the way of entering the Rs 300 crore clubs with the news that Sultan day 12 box office collection surpassing Rs. 260 Crores. But now, the throne of Sultan is in danger as the superstar Rajnikanth’s Kabali is ready for release worldwide. Kabali is expected to dethrone Sultan as Kabali movie is featuring the superstar Rajnikanth.
When the tickets of the movie were made available, they were all sold out within two hours in the US. The film is about to release on 400 screens over there. Indian scenario is no different; theaters in Chennai have so much demand for tickets advance booking that the supply can barely keep pace with the demand. The release date of Kabali is finalized as 22nd July and you can book advance tickets from 15th July. As per reports, the film is playing on 27 Chennai screens amounting to 96 shows per day, has already sold all tickets for first three days. Such scenario properly explains the craze of the movie in people. Due to complete show bookings for three days after the release, the fans are requesting the theaters to inform them as soon as the tickets are available on Social media.
As per the orders of Tamil Nadu Government, the ticket prices of any movie can’t exceed Rs. 120 but, neighboring states like Karnataka and Kerala, the ticket prices has risen up to Rs. 600 per ticket. As far as numbers are concerned, Kabali is being released on a total of 12000 screens, which is almost double the numbers of Sultan’s. The producer of the film, Kalaipuli Thanu, has claimed that the movie will make Rs 200 Crore in the first three days of release. The producer says that “Go to Mumbai and try to purchase a ticket of Sultan it would have cost you Rs 1500, now you go to Bangalore and say Kabali, you will pay Rs 1500 per ticket, but let me tell you that in Tamil Nadu with just Rs 120/80 and 50 a ticket we will bring in 200 crores. So imagine what will happen then? We will be collecting ten times more than Sultan”.

The movie’s release is such a grand affair for the fans that several companies in Chennai like, FYNDUS and OPUS, etc. have declared a holiday for their employees so that they don’t apply for leave on a mass level. Sultan, after two weeks of release, is still on solid foot, with no big release in line. But now, Rajnikanth’s stardom is challenging Sultan and it would surely be a clash worth watching for.
