Two requests to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh for “hurting sentiments of women” by sharing nude images online were made to the Mumbai Police on July 25. The complaint petitions were filed separately at the Chembur police station by a female lawyer and a representative of an NGO with offices in the east Mumbai district.

According to the NGO office-bearer, the actor’s naked photographs have hurt women’s sensibilities generally and insulted their sense of modesty. He demanded that charges be brought against the actor under the Information Technology Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code. In the lawyer’s appeal, it was also requested that a probe into the allegations against Ranveer regarding his alleged intent to offend women’s modesty be conducted.

“On Monday, we got applications in this regard from a person connected to an NGO and a female attorney. So far, no FIR has been filed. We want to know, “said the official.

When Ranveer Singh stripped off for a recent picture shoot for Paper magazine, he shattered the Internet. Ranveer may be seen posing on a Turkish rug while only wearing his birthday suit in the pictures. Before Ranveer posted the photos from the shoot to his Instagram account, they were widely popular.

The expense of the carpet, if rumours are to be believed, which Ranveer employed as a prop for the shot, has come as yet another surprise to the internet community.

Jaipur Rugs is the name of the business that made the Turkish rug that Ranveer was seen laying on. The business published a picture from the same photoshoot with the comment, “See? If you have Jaipur rugs, you don’t need anything else.”

The company is well-known for its astronomically expensive luxury rugs and carpets. Gauri Khan, the wife of actor Shah Rukh Khan and a professional interior designer, has worked with the company. Her designs for rugs range in price from 20,000 to 5 lakh.
