RBI likely to introduce new Rs 1000 note with pro-safety features

The Reserve Bank of India is gearing up to introduce new Rs 1,000 notes which are not simple ordinary notes. The new note will be embedded with enhanced safety features

Reportedly, the new currency is expected to be circulated by December.

According to sources privy to the council, the printing process has already started at the RBI-designated centers. “The printing presses at Mysore and Salboni are getting ready to print the brand-new Rs 1,000 notes which will have enhanced security features,” the source said.

If sources are to be believed, the 2000 rupee note was stopped printing six months back.

After the launch of Rs 200 notes by the RBI to ease the supply of lower denomination currency, the Central Bank is on its toes. It is gearing up to install enhanced security features in the Rs 1000 note.

The big demonetisation move led by PM Modi tapped about 86 percent of the cash from the system, thereby engendering a pseudopodia cash crunch.

The government also announced that new Rs 1000 note will be released in new colour.

After demonetisation, the department of economic affairs secretary said, “In a few months, new color combination and new design Rs 1000 notes will be released.”
