On International Homeless Animals Day 2016, Here are 10 reasons why you must adopt a dog

benefit of adopting a dog

Some things just fill your heart without trying. Animals are god’s blessing on us. Animals are such agreeable friends; they ask no questions and pass no criticism. I personally believe, until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.  Before taking you any further, I would like to quote Dalai Lama here. He said, “Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” I agree with his every word especially when it comes to animals. These innocent beings can’t express themselves in words and often are subject to cruelty. I believe the only cruel creatures on earth are the humans.

As today the world celebrates INTERNATIONAL HOMELESS ANIMALS DAY, I request you to not just be kind to them, but also adopt one-not buy- but adopt one. Animals are born who they are, accept it and that is that. They live with greater peace than people do. The most effective medicine here on earth is unconditional love, which in today’s scenario can only be found in animals. I believe we have more to learn from animals than animals have to learn from us. I can’t force you to love them, all I demand today is to respect them and care for them. The issue should never be the extinction of the animals, but the cruelty and exploitation that leads to their extinction. I would leave this to you to think further about your actions towards innocent animals with a quote by Dr. Jane Goodall,

“Only if we understand, we can care. Only if we care, we will help. Only if we help, shall all be saved.”

Out of all animals, dogs are the real wonders. A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself. They say dogs are the man’s best friends and I agree. The friendship of dog is undoubtedly more intense, truer and stronger than of a man. He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his love, his life, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. Trust me, if I had a dollar for every time my dog made my smile, i would be a millionaire. You don’t probably understand my words because you have not owned one. For you ‘it’s just a DOG, what big deal’, right? These homeless creatures are not only humble but will teach you some important lessons. I believe, no matter how little money and how few possessions do you own, having a dog makes you rich. Today, on the occasion of International Homeless Animals Day, let’s all pledge together to not BUY one, but ADOPT one and make a difference to the lives of both. Sometimes you’ll see them on the streets, at the doors of a dog-shelter or just by the roadside. They wait for a familiar face to come and take them home, cuddle and play with them. But little do they know that they are just disposable items for the humans they love unconditionally. So if you don’t have a soft corner for them in your heart already, here are some famous quotes that will speak the rest for me and will give you solid reasons why you must adopt these little wonders of joy.
