Happy News for Reliance Jio Users: Freebies to Continue Beyond March

With top cellular companies like Airtel and Vodafone falling back into the race, the competition intensified for Reliance Jio Infocomm. However, the corporate giant made its intentions clear that it isn’t willing to give up its throne to the competitors. Reliance supremo Mukesh Ambani dropped hints that the company may extend its free voice calling and data services beyond March 31 this year. This was a happy surprise for millions of Reliance Jio Users all over the world.

Why Is Ambani Handing Out Freebies for Eternity?

Team Reliance was initially planning to terminate it’s free services on March 31, 2017. Nevertheless, other cellular companies unleased their all-out price war against Reliance Jio with similar plans that combine free data and voice call services.

This Thursday, Airtel launched its combo including free voice calls and 4G data services. Needless to say, Idea Cellular that wasn’t faring well with junior Bachchan as its brand ambassador, replicated its plan. Seeing that it may fall out of the race, Vodafone unveiled its low-revenue, high volume strategy to win backs its customers. All this put extra pressure on Reliance, that fought tooth and nail to maintain its top position in the market.

Mukesh Ambani Defended Reliance Jio’s Freebies

This month, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) sought clarification on the unplanned extension of Reliance Jio services until March even though the offer was supposed to expire on December 4. When telecom regulator sought clarity on Jio offers, the Ambanis defended their free services, saying that they didn’t violate the conditions that limit promotional services to 90 days.

Consumers shouldn’t confuse Jio’s Happy New Year plan with the Welcome offer. The first offer launched in September this season left no option for renewal or payment if the user exhausted their 4GB limit.

On the other hand, the new ‘Welcome offer’ launched on December 1 allowed recharging of data and speed.

Having said that, the analysts at Reliance have agreed that it was a move to gain market shares, seeing that several 4G entrants have made it to the tabloids. Whatever may be the reason, it’s a happy moment for thousands of Reliance Jio Users all over the world!
