Reliance Jio soon to unveil the long-rumored Jio feature phone with 4G VoLTE support at a price of Rs. 500. The phone will be launched on 21 July, the day when Reliance Industries Limited is holding its Annual General Meeting.
Rajiv Sharma, HSBC analyst in a research report stated that the new phone will be priced as low as Rs. 500 (less than $8). This move will help the Reliance Jio to convince its users of 2G feature phones on other networks to make the switch to its 4G network.
Price of the reliance JIO feature phone
According to the HSBC research note, the Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone will be subsidized by as much as Rs. 650-970 in order to achieve the price point of Rs. 500. The company is already said to have placed an order of 18-20 million units for the handsets with Chinese vendors such as Zhejiang Techain Electronics Technology Co., Shenzhen CHINO-E Communication Co, Crave, and Megaphone. All the shipments will start in late July or early August.
The reliance jio feature phone with 4G will reportedly hit the market on August 15. This feature phone is expected to be launched under the Lyf brand. Lyf Brand Is a part of the Mukesh Ambani -backed Reliance Digital.
JIO plan for the feature phone
Reliance Jio is launching a more uncompromisingly priced tariff plan to reach more users. This new Jio plan for the feature phone is said to be priced at Rs. 80-90. However, it is yet to be known whether the tariff will be limited only to buyers of the 4G feature phone or for customers using the smartphones as well.
This week, the company launched a new offer providing the customers with 224GB of 4G data, However, this offer is limited only to those buying a new JioFi device, and not for existing users.

This feature phone will come in two variants:
- featuring a Qualcomm processor, and
- Other with a Spreadtrum chip.

- 4GB internal storage,

- 2-megapixel rear camera,
- VGA front camera,
- Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC.
An additional feature is that the buyers will be able to access digital content on the feature phone. Besides this Voice calls and SMSs are also expected to be free with the device.
