Rishabh Pant is the new, emerging wicketkeeper who has been compared to MS Dhoni multiple times. Recently, Pant has proved them all right by making his way into the record books with his unbeaten knock off 65 off just 42 balls, leading India to a 7-wicket win over West Indies in the third T20I at Guyana on Tuesday. The victory is a remarkable one as India completed a 3-0 sweep over the West Indies in the three-match series.
The remarkable 65 runs knock was very helpful for India to chase down the 147-run target in 19.1 overs. In doing so, he also broke Dhoni’s record for the highest score by a designated Indian keeper in T20Is. This record was owned by Dhoni who also held all the five spots for the highest runs by an Indian wicket-keeper in T20Is. Pant swept Dhoni’s 56 against England in 2017 at Bengaluru.
