It was last month only when Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai team met to celebrate show’s 10th anniversary. They all came together and sang the title song for their fans. Seeing all of them in such changed looks, especially Ratna Pathak Shah and Satish Shah with their age-struck personalities, it felt both good and bitter. Good because Sarabhai took Indian sit-com standards to the greatest of heights and bitter or say sad because it has been 10 years that the last episode of this amazing show was aired. It was in a way quite appalling how their absence from our lives struck us unguarded.
Anyway, talking of happy thoughts now, Sarabhai has given its viewers some of the funniest memories of all time. The way each character was carved and portrayed on the small screen has been brilliant. The actors who played them would be remembered for being Indravadan, Maya, Sahil, Monisha, Roshesh, Madhusudan, Dushyant more than any character they will play in their entire career.
It has been 10 years and nothing even close to Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai has come up on Indian television till now. Well you can’t say nothing came, because we have Sasural Simar Ka which being a daily soap drama is ironically so funny in its entirety. Now hope you know we are being sarcastic and do you know from who can we learn to be sarcastic? Sarabhais! Oh who can forget the classy humor with pinch of perfect sarcasm the Sarabhai’s made us laugh with.
Remember how on every Monday at 8 pm we used to sit glued to our TV sets just to have a good start to the week. Be it Monisha’s careless middle-class habits, Maya’s upper class shenanigans, Indravadan being Naradmuni, Sahil’s emotional fiasco between his mother and wife, Roshesh’s super bad poetry, Madhusudan Phupa’s deafness, Dushyant’s stunted common sense and tech savvy persona, each and everything has made us fall in love with this show.
