Following a stone-pelting incident during a religious procession in Karauli on Saturday, the Rajasthan police arrested 46 persons and held seven others for questioning on Monday. “After stone pelting occurred during a parade in Futa Kot area Main Bazaar Karauli on Saturday, the police intervened quickly and arrested 46 people and held seven persons for interrogation,” said Inspector-General (IG) of Police, Bharatpur Range, Prasanna Kumar Khamesra.

“In the case filed at Police Station Karauli, 13 persons were arrested in connection with the incident, while 33 people were arrested for breaching the curfew order. 07 persons have been arrested and are being questioned. The police also seized a total of 21 two-wheelers and four-wheelers “Khamesra continued.

“In view of the sensitivity of the incident, he immediately arrived in Karauli on the spot and took stock of the situation with Superintendent of Police Karauli Shailendra Singh Indoliya, called the necessary police force and Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) from other districts of the range, and imposed it on the spot for peace and order,” IG Prasanna Kumar Khmesra said.

According to the police, ADG Sanjib Kumar, IG Bharat Lal Meena, DIG (Crime branch) Jaipur Rahul Prakash, DCP Mridul Kachawa, and DCP Jaipur Narayan Togas have been dispatched to Karauli to keep a watchful eye on the situation.

IG Khamesra went on to say, “The situation is being closely monitored by police patrolling at various locations throughout the city in order to preserve peace and order in the area. The police department held a flag march in the city.”

He stated that while the situation is under control, a curfew has been imposed in the city as a precaution.

After stones were thrown during a ‘Shobha Yatra’ parade in the Karauli region of Rajasthan on Saturday, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was applied, and the internet was shut down.

From 6:30 p.m. on April 2 to 12 a.m. on April 4, Karauli was under Section 144.
